Each week now will be some fascinating bits of what's going on in our life in North East, along with some new food that we've dug up as we are eating a much more healthy plate and bored of what we are eating.
Since I like the food more than I like the snow these days, I'll talk about that. Tuesday night I baked. And not just some dish in a casserole - I baked bread. In this day of processed food where if you are on the go as much as we are, kids seem to take for granted where food comes from.
Bread comes from the store. In a plastic or paper bag.
So, last night when I started this, honestly the kids had no clue what I was making. It was a little sad and funny at the same time with them each offering up what they thought I was making.
Emma was the first to get it right. She's quick. Abigail I really had to try to get through to her that it was dough. She finally got it after such gems as "eggs(!)," "cookies (close)" and "a mess(true)."
Bailey - she had literally no clue when it came to what it was and finally walks in and says bread. She was embarrassed that it took her that long.
But, it was pretty easy to whip up and it turned out pretty dang good. Made 3 loaves and there's one left. Here's a sexy, low-light picture of one of them:
On the kid front - Abigail had a boy over! Yeah, being a father of three girls, the *last* one that I thought would have a boy over would be Abigail.
The best part of this is that he was her 2nd choice as far as boys go. So, with the air a brisk 15 degrees yesterday, they tore the yard up. We've got a good foot of snow right now, so the kids love it.
Oh, and by the way, here's the back yard before Sammy & Dockers tore it up chasing each other around. Looks pretty good back there.
Well, I'm sticking to my guns as far as the blogging goes - maybe I'll even throw in a weekend update.

this does not constitute a post
This is merely pictures that I'm posting in a slideshow format. Enjoy!
Leave a comment whether or not you like it... I'm kinda iffy on it.

a night on the slopes
I went out snowboarding for the first time in years. And by years, I'm talking more than a decade. More than a dozen...maybe even borderline 14 years. It was definitely way too long. Bailey has been bugging me for the past year to take her snowboarding as she's wanted to go. I was probably her age when I started skiing, so I can relate. The part I couldn't relate to was that this was my daughter wanting to go. I mean, Sarah & I are very easygoing when letting our kids try what they want, but I conveniently always found a way to get around going.
Not any more.
Jen works at the Peek - so we can get in for some pretty good employee discount action.
But little did we know that we'd be helping out security this day
There's Boo with Brian someone or other's instructor badge. First if you saw her - you'd know she wasn't an instructor. Secondly, she's not a guy. That should have been a dead giveaway. But nobody stopped us the entire nite.
So, we got there and finally hit the slopes - and hit em she did. Though here's one of the more upright pictures you'll see of Boo:
At the end of the night, we managed to get down basic turning and stopping - both very important keys to navigating slopes. Which helps you avoid such things as, oh, I don't know, lift towers. I have a picture of her before she hits a tower. It wasn't too bad - more funny than anything.
At the end, we managed to put in a bunch of hours, helping out the Peek and getting down the basics of snowboarding.
And to quote Boo - "My dad is WAAYYYYY better than I thought he would be!"
:)
On another note - I will be updating this blog now twice a week - come hell or high water.
